Aveo-led urban renewal project at Gasworks Plaza in Newstead

The Gasworks at Newstead is a large, master-planned, mixed-use development centred around the heritage-listed Brisbane landmark, The Gasometer. This riverfront precinct, once home to yards, stores, pipelines, and storage devices for Brisbane's gas supply, now features retail, medical and commercial spaces, vibrant bars and restaurants, a retirement living community, and a unique public plaza integrated within the Gasometer's structure. 

In collaboration with COX Architecture and JFP, Aveo undertook this pioneering urban renewal project to create a comfortable, subtropical environment offering a variety of renewable experiences. The stories of the Gasworks are subtly told through the details of lighting, pavements, and seating, while the design ensures the space remains playful, permeable, and easy to navigate.
