Guests, residents and the Hon. Steve Minnikin MP, member for Chatsworth, were serenaded by some of Australia’s most acclaimed opera singers in a performance held at the Parkside Carindale community.
Classics at Carindale, the first of a series of events, celebrated our newly formed partnership with Opera Queensland.
Welcoming in a crowd, captivating harmonies from performers tenor Carlos Bárcenas Ramírez and soprano Katie Stenzel were accompanied by delicious canapes and drinks.
Aveo and Opera Queensland's new partnership demonstrates our shared desire to connect people through music in a way that promotes wellbeing and showcases the power of connection.
“Music is such a strong part of our communities and having these outstanding performers from Opera Queensland here tonight is a great honour,” said Lynn McGavin, Regional Sales Manager at Aveo.
Succeeding the success of the first event, the following evening was heard throughout the Carindale community, as residents participated in a ‘pub choir’ style performance.
Sip, Sing, Socialise created a release for residents to belt out some of their favourite songs, under the skilled tutelage of multi award winning artist and performer, Jonathon Welch, and Katie Stenzel returned much to the delight of residents!
Chief Executive Officer of Aveo, Tony Randello, said the powerful storytelling of opera, and the unifying influence of music and the arts, would deliver enduring benefits.
“Music brings people together,” Mr Randello said.
“At Aveo we have long recognised the intrinsic value of music in our retirement communities, to regular events and community celebrations.”
The highly anticipated event delighted residents, who hope for a return performance at Carindale.
“We could have listened to them all night! [We] have thoroughly enjoyed the night and hope you come back to Aveo!” residents Dell and Jan told the performers.
“We’ll all be there, enjoying the performance. It’s beautiful, just a beautiful new way for some of us to enjoy music, together.”
The next performances are set to take place at The Clayfield Retirement Village in early September.
