There are few things in life more uplifting than time with our doggy friends. In August, a chance visit to Banora Point's office sparked an idea that would create a delightful canine tradition.
Banora Point social committee member, Helen, brought her gorgeous pug Barney to the office.
Barney’s charm was so undeniable that Administration Manager, Kym, said, “we should have a puppy play date and get all the dogs together for a morning tea.”
Helen took this idea and ran with it!
She took it to the board and the Inaugural Puppy Play Date was planned.
As the first Play Date was going to be in December, Banora Point advertised it as a Christmas-themed morning tea to celebrate their furry residents. Invitations went out to the residents of the retirement village in northern New South Wales, announcing that there would be prizes for best dressed, most well-behaved, and that BYO ‘doggy poo bags’ were essential!
Guests made their way to the grassed area for a chat and a play. All dogs (and their owners) were very well behaved!
They enjoyed their human and dog treats, and are planning to hold these events a few times a year. The really great thing about the Doggy Play Date was seeing a few residents who do not attend many events as they do not like leaving their dogs home alone.
New friendships were made between residents based on their common love for their animals.
We love the creativity and fun at Banora Point, and how they embrace all their residents – and their pets! Aveo communities free up residents to focus on lifestyle and connections. So many tell us that they wish they’d made the move sooner. If you’re considering taking the First Step, click here to find out more.
