The Opportunity

This newly created role, reporting directly to the General Manager of People Services, will collaborate with Operations, Care, IT, Finance, and Payroll to enhance the efficiency, integrity, security and resiliency of people, risk management and employee reward IT applications. Additionally, the role will ensure compliance with statutory obligations, Fair Work practices and modern award applications across Aveo's workforce, optimising rostering and payroll costs against budgeted projections to drive a high-performance environment.

You will

  • Leadership and proficiency in HR/Payroll/Applications/Reward software involving the integration and automation of systems as well software applications/portals involving statutory reporting of STP, Super steam and Super stapling (Chris21, Dayforce and Human Force T & A and Benefits, RiskMan and SolvInjury highly desirable)
  • Develop and implement tailored system solutions without reliance on external vendors.
  • Hands on experience with ETL tools and a working knowledge of structured query language (SQL), business intelligence best practices and data warehouse techniques.
  • Payroll experience involving high volume processing, integration and configuration involving STP requirements.
  • Oversee cybersecurity and business resilience for people systems, mitigating risks related to data exfiltration, access management, and internal network security.
  • People systems auditing involving evaluation of software applications to assess performance, security, usability and adherence to best practice.
  • Provide strategic HR generalist support, including salary packaging and compliance with Fair Work, Modern Awards, and NES leave standards.
  • Understanding and proven application of the Retirement Village Acts (all states), Aged Care Act, Nurses and Midwives Act and associated Standards, Privacy Act, Fair Work standards etc.
  • Experience interpreting and applying Modern Awards and NES leave standards into software.

What you will bring

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a proactive solutions-oriented mindset.
  • At least 7 years in a senior payroll, workforce and systems applications position, with at least 3 years of specialist HR employee/industrial relations experience managing complex cases in a multi-site environment.
  • Understanding of and ability to apply an appropriate pedagogy to Aveo's operations and workforce (noting geographic presence and workforce demographics).
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (in particular, MS Excel).
  • Excellent numeracy skills and financial acumen.
  • Commercial and pragmatic mindset.
  • Ability to challenge the 'status quo' and drive continuous improvement.

Job Specific attributes and skills

  • HR, Payroll & Systems Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency in HR, Payroll, Applications, and Reward software integration and automation. Highly desirable experience includes statutory reporting for STP, Super stream, and Super stapling using systems such as Chris21, Dayforce, and Human Force (T&A and Benefits), as well as Risk Man and Solv injury.
  • Software Implementation & Integration Leadership: Proven ability to lead, manage, and apply hands-on integration and implementation of software solutions without reliance on co-sourced or vendor service partners.
  • Cybersecurity & Business Resilience in People Systems: Prior experience managing the cybersecurity and business resilience of people systems applications, ensuring robust protection against data exfiltration, internal network penetration and propagation, unauthorised access, and system vulnerabilities. Strong capability in access management and user permission controls, alongside advanced threat identification, monitoring, and incident response strategies to mitigate risks across integrated platforms.
  • Data & ETL Proficiency: Hands-on experience with ETL tools, SQL, and a strong working knowledge of business intelligence best practices and data warehouse techniques.
  • ATO Compliance & Data Integrity: Expertise in ensuring compliance with ATO obligations, including data integrity, system integration, and automation for statutory reporting and compliance purposes.
  • Interpersonal & Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities paired with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Payroll Processing & STP Compliance: Extensive experience in high-volume payroll processing, system integration, and configuration with a strong focus on STP requirements.
  • People Systems Auditing: Proven ability to evaluate software applications for performance, security, usability, and compliance with best practices.
  • HR Generalist & Award Expertise: Solid background as an HR Generalist, with deep experience in Award interpretation and salary packaging applications.
  • Legislative & Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with key legislation and standards, including the Retirement Villages Act (all states), The Aged Care Act, Nurses and Midwives Act, associated standards, Privacy Act, and Fair Work standards for record keeping.
  • Modern Awards & NES Leave: Experience in interpreting and applying Modern Awards and NES leave standards within software systems.
  • Senior Leadership Experience: At least 7 years in a senior role managing payroll, workforce, and systems applications, including a minimum of 3 years in specialist HR/industrial relations managing complex cases in a multi-site environment.
  • Workforce & Operational Pedagogy: Ability to apply appropriate pedagogical approaches tailored to Aveo's operations and workforce demographics, considering geographic diversity.
  • Technical & Analytical Skills: Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially MS Excel), coupled with excellent numeracy skills and strong financial acumen.
