The Opportunity

Forest Grove Retirement Living, located in Durack, is the largest retirement living village in Queensland with close to 700 residents! Working closely with the Community Manager and your team of hospitality staff, you'll lead the Forest Grove kitchen to success by providing exquisite catering & hospitality services that exceed the satisfaction of all residents and ensure team members are executing all policies and procedures. You will have a positive rapport with restaurant guests, be hands-on, understand food safety principles and ensure sufficient supplies of goods & ingredients. Most importantly, you'll have a passion for food and delivering a gold standard of service to our customers!

This is a permanent full-time position working - Monday 10-6pm, Tuesday 11-7.30pm, Wednesday 10-6pm, Thursday 10-6pm and Friday 11-7.30pm. No late nights or weekends!

You will:

  • Be responsible for all kitchen and dining operations - overseeing hospitality services, providing guidance to your team and creating fresh ideas
  • Work closely with your food & beverage team to deliver great service, ensure the restaurant is running smoothly and coordinating ideas for functions
  • Monitor daily Food Safety checklists, admin items and ensure strict adherence to all OH&S policies
  • Complete stock management of all goods including ordering, rotation and amendments
  • Complete staff rostering, manage development & hiring and ensure your team deliver outstanding service to customers
  • Following up on day-to-day operational issues including adhering to schedules, cleaning lists and performance issues

What you'll bring:

  • Experience in a casual dining kitchen setting (e.g retirement villages, cafes, a la carte settings, RSLs or pubs)
  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (required)
  • Qualified Food Safety Supervisor (desirable)
  • Current Police Check clearance and minimum two (2) COVID-19 vaccinations (required)
