The Opportunity

The Newstead Residences is a luxury retirement living community located in the heart of Newstead, home to 190+ independent living apartments across 19 floors. As a highly motivated Cook working within our Hospitality team, you will enjoy working in a fast paced environment preparing high-quality morning tea, lunch and dinner services for residents living within our Apartment with Services. You'll be a great communicator, enjoy being hands-on with kitchen preparation and enjoy supporting residents' well-being. If you have a passion for seniors, preparing quality food and building relationships, this is a perfect opportunity for you. 

This is a full-time position working Monday 9.15-2.15pm and Thursday-Sunday 9.15am-6.30pm. Enjoy every Tuesday & Wednesday off and great weekend penalty rates!

You will

  • Working alongside a small team preparing restaurant-style meals according the prepared menus
  • Assist our Food & Beverage staff during service times and engage with residents 
  • Daily monitoring of food safety plans and following all Food Services procedures 
  • Complete all cleaning and sanitising tasks in the kitchen
  • Assist with other ad-hoc tasks as required

What you'll bring

  • Experience in catering/kitchen/hospitality settings (e.g experience in food preparation, kitchen hand or cook roles) 
  • Food Safety Certificate OR Certificate III in Commerical Cookery (desirable)
  • A friendly and warm persona with a passion for food and chatting with residents!
  • Current Police check (required, but we can complete for you!)
  • Minimum of two (2) COVID-19 Vaccinations (required)
